Choosing between a semi-automatic and a fully automatic Primedic defibrillator comes down to how much control a responder wants during the rescue. Every Primedic defibrillator is built to be used by anyone, trained or not, and talks the rescuer through each stage of the process. In a sudden cardiac arrest emergency:

• Switch on the defibrillator, and the voice and visual prompts begin straight away.
• Remove or cut away clothing from the patient's chest and make sure the skin is dry, then attach the Primedic electrode pads to the bare chest as shown on the pad illustrations.
• The AED analyses the heart rhythm and determines whether a shock is required. On a fully automatic model the shock is delivered automatically after a clear warning to stand clear; on a semi-automatic model the device prompts the rescuer to press the shock button.
