Mediana Defibrillators
Mediana is a trusted manufacturer of automated external defibrillators built around one clear priority: getting a life-saving shock to a casualty quickly, with guidance any responder can follow under pressure. The Mediana A16 HeartOn Core sits at the heart of the range, a compact AED designed for homes, workplaces, schools and community settings across the UK.
Defib Warehouse stocks the Mediana A16 HeartOn AEDs in two versions: the Mediana A16 HeartOn Core Semi Automatic Defibrillator and the Mediana A16 HeartOn Core AED Fully Automatic Defibrillator. Both share the same medical-grade platform and the same fast, guided rescue experience, so the choice comes down to how the shock is delivered.

How to Check Your Mediana AED Is Rescue Ready
A Mediana AED monitors its own readiness, so keeping it rescue ready takes very little effort. An advanced self-test system runs daily, weekly and monthly, reviewing the internal electronics, battery capacity, pad status, speaker and internal memory. The daily test covers MCU and memory integrity, battery capacity, SD card connection, ambient temperature and patient body impedance as well as the speaker and the status of the pads. Weekly and monthly tests add waveform delivery circuit checks that confirm the device is ready to shock.
Maintenance alerts flag anything that needs attention, including battery level, operating temperature and pad condition. A quick glance at the status indicator confirms the Mediana defibrillator is ready for use. When the battery or pads approach the end of their life, genuine replacements are available from the Mediana pads and batteries page.
How to Use a Mediana Defibrillator
- Open the cover to switch the device on, then follow the spoken prompts.
- Remove or cut clothing from the casualty's chest and make sure the skin is dry.
- Apply the pre-connected pads to the bare chest as shown on the pad diagrams. For a child, set the unit to paediatric mode with the patient mode button.
- Stand clear while the AED analyses the heart rhythm. On a semi-automatic model, press the flashing shock button when instructed. A fully automatic model delivers the shock on its own once it confirms one is needed.
- Follow the ongoing prompts to continue CPR until the emergency services arrive.
