Stryker Forward Hearts Program

Stryker’s Forward Hearts Program allows survivors of Sudden Cardiac Arrest to pay it forward and help potentially save another life by donating a life-saving defibrillator to an organisation of the survivor’s choice. Stryker’s aim is to make everywhere a heart safe environment, where an AED is within reach, should someone suffer a cardiac arrest.
How it Works
When a LIFEPAK CR2, LIFEPAK CR PLUS, LIFEPAK EXPRESS or HeartSine Samaritan is used to save a life, after the survivor has recovered and has been discharged from hospital, they can choose to make a donation of another defibrillator to an organisation anonymously or be part of a public service announcement, spreading further awareness about these life-saving devices.
Forward Hearts Process
In order for the donation to be fulfilled, the survivor must confirm the following:
- SCA survivor is rescued with a Stryker defibrillator – the defibrillator must be under warranty and the rescue must be in a workplace or community location
- Clinical teams confirm rescue – confirmation of the cardiac arrest and confirmation of the patient surviving to hospital care
- Survivor picks the donation recipient
- Physio-Control donates (on behalf of the survivor) a HeartSine Samaritan PAD 350P or 360P to the chosen organisation
- Distributor arranges hand-off event and contacts media
The Fine Print
The survivor must be saved with: HeartSine Samaritan PAD AED, LIFEPAK CR2, LIFEPAK CR PLUS AED or LIFEPAK EXPRESS AED.
The cardiac event must be deemed to be an actual sudden cardiac arrest by Physio Control’s Clinical team.
Submission for Forward Hearts must include: Event data file (PDF files are not acceptable), Customer Event Form with location of resuscitation, gender and outcome, Forward Hearts Foundation Details Form.
Survivor chooses organisation for a donation
Survivor can choose to make their donation in their own name of anonymously, confidentially or part of a public service announcement.
Donated device will be a HeartSine Samaritan PAD 350P or 360P only.
The distributor will coordinate the donation and handover event and any surrounding publicity.
Physio-Control should be informed of these details and can assist where necessary.
